Back at home

I am now back in Abu Dhabi. The heat is not as bad as people make it to be. Granted, it hit 42 Celsius yesterday but I felt a certain comfort in walking the short distance to the car, feeling the little droplets of sweat on my skin and the warmth of desert air fill my lungs. It was night when I flew from Manchester and as the plane circled the city I had one last look at the streets now lit in colourful circles and lines of orange and yellow and wondered if life is going to lead me back to this path at some point in the future.

There are going to be a whole new set of challenges for me on professional and personal level. I am both excited and anxious. I drove late last night around the streets of Abu Dhabi absorbing the spirit of the place. I noticed the buildings were different, the signs on the street seemed altered, the driving style alien, the people, trees, sky and landscape were all new and changes from what I remember. It then hit me that every time I came back to visit in the last 10 years, it was never for more than two weeks. I always knew I was soon to leave and never took time to notice the little things that make this new big city what it is.

I start work on Sunday. Wish me luck. :)
