Day eight in Abu Dhabi

It has already been 8 days since I got back. Nothing dramatic to report. I am still effectively on holiday and occupying my time with a combination of Wilfred Thesiger’s Arabian Sands and the European Observatory’s “Health care systems in eight countries: trends and challenges”. I couldn’t find Thesiger’s “The Life Of My Choice” in book shops around here - if anyone spots a copy please let me know where. Two things I hope to do in the next few days are a trip to Salala and snow boarding classes in Dubai. I am also faced with the few things I should do in my room that I have been putting off for years; fix the bathroom door, change the light switches, remove the gypsum ceiling decorations and add blackouts to the curtains to block sunlight.

My mood is still bright. I have consciously been avoiding people who whine and complain about work. I should probably start to think about board exams while I am here.
